Marta Zapparoli aka Penelopex

Born in the underground scene of Bologna(Italy).
Begins her art experience studying soprano sax,
experimental theatre and realizes exibitions, sound performances from 1999 in Italy-Germany-France-Switzerland-Beligium-East Europa- in different contexts / festivals.

The last decade she creates sound art using field recordings digital and custom analog tools as well as found instruments and objects. Her sonic work investigates environmental phenomena, acoustic ecology,noise pollution, focusing on sonic narratives & human emotions through decomposition and real-time manipulation, sounds that are considered non-musical or overheard.

From 2000 she is a promoter and member with Giancarlo Bianchini of “hotelnuclear” an Italian collective working with audio,installation,performance.

From 2002 to 2004 she has been also a member of the “2b1c” electronic poetry sound project (voice – tapes and field recordings) with Elena Skoko aka Sugarbabe .
With the field recordings project "Audio Portrait of Berlin" she won the competition:MOVIN 'UP 2006.
From October 2006 she lives and plays in Berlin with different projects: “les coulees succulentes collective”,staubgold rec, “HappyHerpes”drone-darck noise-jazz plus different collaboration
of improvised music.

She is currently working on her solo live ,she is a member of the Splitter Orchester Berlin, producing a series of live installations with Martin Kuentz and a duo project with Alessandra Eramo.
